Tax risks for non-tax specialists : CPD webinar delivered by Tolley
Friday 2nd December 2022 9.00am – 12.00pm
In our last accredited CPD course of 2022, delivered in conjunction with leading training provider Tolley, we look at compliance issues for non-tax specialists.
As the Government tries to restore the balance in public finances, it will want to raise more revenues through better compliance. The estimated tax gap between what HMRC calculates that it should raise and what it does raise is over £30 billion. In addition, publicly available reports document extensive misuse of Covid support funds. This includes furlough payments, self-employed income support (SEIS) and bounce back loans.
HMRC has acquired new powers and information gathering capabilities which it is using as it steps up the number and scope of its investigations. It is also introducing Making Tax Digital, which requires all businesses to have digital records.
The webinar is aimed at anyone who has to consider tax as part of their management, planning and responsibilities including HR, sales and finance professionals, company secretaries and remuneration specialists.
The three-hour online session will cover:
- Employment versus self-employment and IR35 status issues
- Covid payments
- The scope of Pay As You Earn
- National insurance
- Deductible and non-deductible expenses
- Making Tax Digital
- VAT
- International tax compliance
This course is free and delegates qualify for three hours of structured CPD if attending the live session.
