Friday 6th November 9.00am – 12.00pm

Our tenth accredited CPD course of 2026, delivered in conjunction with leading training provider Tolley, takes place on Friday 6th November.

This webinar concentrates on the tax issues relating to UK commercial property.

Whilst UK residential property has been subject to significant changes in tax legislation which have raised the tax burden on residential landlords, commercial property has not generally seen the same challenges.

The course looks at all tax aspects – from purchase to sale – and the ability of property companies to claim capital allowances and interest relief. It also examines the tax challenges and opportunities arising from investing in commercial property.

This three-hour webinar broadly covers:

  • Definitions of UK commercial property
  • Trading versus investment – the income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax consequences of the different designations
  • Capital versus revenue – the different treatments and a review of recent, relevant case law
  • Interest considerations, including rules for deductibility of interest
  • Corporate interest restrictions – an outline of the rules and effect on property companies
  • Annual tax on enveloped dwellings – the potential traps
  • Stamp Duty Land Tax considerations

The event will take place virtually on Zoom. All our courses are free to attend and delegates qualify for three hours of structured CPD*.
